A beautiful find...

I do a weekly radio show called "The Dollar Bin" where I play music that I have found for sale in the "dollar bins" of retail establishments for $3 or less. Depending on the run, 80% to 90% of the time I have no idea what I'm buying and can only go by the cover and sometimes the liner notes if the CD isn't sealed. The great shock of this process is there are remarkably few total failures, and even the ones I don't necessarily like aren't necessarily bad (just not to my taste). It is a challenging limitation to have placed on a radio show, but it allows me to continue to grow my musical experience and expand my horizons because I have set myself the need to in addition to the want of doing so (it started when I lived in North Carolina about 2 hours drive on Interstate highways from the nearest decent music shop... I would buy a bunch of CDs I wanted and then decided to pick up a bunch of unknowns from the dollar bin they had, which is where the $3 limit actually came from). The great wonder of this process is the number of truly amazing CDs I have found this way that I would never have known about any other way. This artist was the featured singer in the band Dr. No from Poland (which is where the CD was from... how it made it to where I found it, I have no idea, but it was on a major label... I can only assume that nobody had purchased it because nobody knew what the hell it was or who they were).
Karolina Kozak... ♥ ♥ ♥
Here's one by Dr. No actually in Polish ("Zanim"): http://youtu.be/1QRGKgxpPqs
(heh, reminds me very slightly of this video, "Nuova Ossessione", from Italy's Subsonica... the woman in the video looks remarkably like my ex when she was younger... the similarities don't end there, sigh... http://youtu.be/9WKahSrUYfc)
Huh, I had not seen this Dr. No video (for "Free") before now (it's great that stuff like this is eventually uploaded to be allow it to be shared/known): http://youtu.be/vF0Fr4Jk6hs
This is an acoustic version of "Free" (no video) that's also on the album I have ("Almost Done") from Dr. No... simply gorgeous and heartmelting: http://youtu.be/KBZ4hTu6G9A
And then she went on to do solo work like this (translation, "Embrace It", with the implication that if you do not, it will slip away from you... oh, and the video was shot in Savannah, Georgia in the US)... so powerful... oh, and did I mention ♥ ♥ ♥?
Fuck... I hadn't seen this next one before now, "I Tak Bez Konca" (roughly translates as "And so, without end...")... it seriously broke my heart to watch (it really did choke me up with its optimism and love). Filmed in Savannah, Georgia in 2012 as well, this is the US that should be, should have been, could still be, but these days it's not looking particularly likely, and that makes me unutterably sad...
... because this is the US that it's letting itself become, because so many people there live their lives in constant fear (if for no other reason than the fear for their health, and the health of their loved ones given the terrifying situation regarding medical insurance there... and I know, because I did live there and had and have many friends there without insurance or with inadequate insurance at best): http://youtu.be/gPVrFIP0CMs, and this: http://youtu.be/SrnG6PkTxpA (and no, the irony is not lost on me that this song has since been repurposed as a celebration of American imperialism and its military... please pardon the video quality, there are no good copies of the original video left on the Internet that I could find).
Looks like I've ended up at the end of this journey with a case of melancholia... sigh... not where I was planning to go, but always a danger where music is concerned I guess.
