People raise an eyebrow when I tell them that I'm doing majors in both theoretical physics AND feminist studies (officially "women and gender studies") at Carleton. I mean, isn't the whole feminism thing "so last century"? Isn't it all sorted out now (with only a few neanderthal holdouts that will just go away eventually)? Even if I didn't have two daughters, I have always been activist and I feel this is one of half a dozen critical issues facing society today (up there with hypercapitalism, environmental auto-genocide [hmmm... a term I just came up with for this post... I'll have to remember that one... maybe somebody's already using it, I'll have to go look], and the treatment of aboriginal peoples). As is often the case, Cracked (the humour magazine/web site) goes where others fear to tread. Warning: The article contains language that is... derogatory, to say the least (the article is not being derogatory, the language it's reporting being used is). Does this make me sad and angry? You betcha. I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore! And I gotta say, if this article doesn't make you mad, you might just want to unfriend me here because I am probably your enemy and I'll probably eventually snap at you in print (unless you do that whole "keep your enemies closer" thing... heh).
